Located towards the northern tip of the peninsula, the thriving family farm lies just outside the lovely little village of Sister Bay.

Since the early 1900s when Anders Seaquist planted his first few trees, the family have been known as the premium producers of cherries and cherry products in Wisconsin.

While most of their jellies, dips, jams, and even their donuts and pies are made out of cherries picked from their orchards, other artisanal products and accessories are also available. 10. Newport State Park

Established in 1969, the museum’s big main building is now topped by a distinctive ten-storey high lighthouse tower which looks over the bay and marina around it. It’s what I also thought of when we found out we’d be visiting Door County, Wisconsin for a trip with extended family.. I read about the creamery before we visited, and we’d planned to eat there, but the availability of a tour had somehow escaped my investigation.. While some of the towns in Door County seem a bit sleepy, there is no shortage of good, (most often) locally sourced food to enjoy.. Door County Creamery Sister Bay – Even if you don’t do the tour, go to the creamery and eat.. Pelletier’s Restaurant and Fish Boil in Fish Creek – You must do a fish boil while in Door County.. You won’t be disappointed and we had a lovely time at this place.. Hands down the best place to stay in Door County, Wisconsin.. The rooms are expansive with views of the water and trees.. Wildlife needs to be protect everywhere in America, and the Open Door Bird Sanctuary is doing their part to help out.. Who knew that Lake Michigan was so beautiful?. Of all the stuff I thought I’d find in Door County, no offense, coffee was not one of them, Especially as I’m a huge European snob now and am hard pressed to find coffee strong enough for my tastes.. I learned all about it at Coffee Academy with the amazing owner Vicki.. After a giant breakfast complete with all the iced coffee I could drink, Vicki came over and gave me a few espresso beans on the sly to try as well – and they were PERFECT.. It dates back to 1919 and has gone all over the world to be donated and docked in Door County for tours and tale abound.. This is adjacent to the cheese shop and serves up beautiful Lebanese fare – unique to this area and completely delicious.. I’ll forever remember my first FRIED cheese curd experience was held at Wilson’s.. Margaret and her husband have set up camp in Door County and plan to stay.
